A Bronx man living in a Grant Avenue apartment says he was gone without a working refrigerator for a year.
Jimmy Avila says it's not just an inconvenience when it comes to storing food, but his medication as well. He says he took his complaint to court and received a ruling in his favor, but nothing has been in the months since.
Avila is a rent-stabilized tenant and says because of that, his landlord, Jacob Finklestein, is trying to force him out.
"He has an agenda to try to raise the rent here in this building and get rid of all rent-controlled tenants," Avila says.
Avila adds that his stove is now on the fritz and that his neighbors are having issues of their own.
News 12 reached out to the landlord, who offered no official statement regarding Avila's problems but said he wants to resolve them.
