Bronx man sentenced for 2023 fatal stabbing in Mott Haven
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says a Bronx man was sentenced for a 2023 fatal stabbing in Mott Haven.
Angel Silva will serve 20 years to life for stabbing Jyleal Connor 27 times. Silva's accomplice, Wilfred Pacheco, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in December.
According to court documents, the duo, armed with large knives, approached Connor, 36, around 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 26 near Bergen Avenue and East 149th Street. Silva and Pacheco confronted Connor about a conflict Pacheco previously had with him.
The pair proceeded to stab Connor numerous times. He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospital Lincoln, where he died.
Prosecutors say Silva was linked to the killing through DNA on a hat left at the crime scene. He pleaded guilty to murder on Jan. 14.
Pacheco pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter on Oct. 30.
"This defendant, along with a co-conspirator, viciously stabbed the victim multiple times and killed him,” said DA Clark. “With this life sentence, I hope that the victim's family will take solace in knowing that their loved one's killers have been brought to justice."
