A Bronx mother who was inspired by her daughter to design children's clothing recently showed off her pieces at New York Fashion Week.
Designer Ydamys Simo started making dresses for her daughter, Ynairaly, six years ago.
She says she began creating and selling the one-of-a-kind pieces full-time after people started to notice them.
Simo has shown her pieces at New York Fashion Week three times and says that while the success is great, she does it for the children.
"It's important for me because growing with my little girl, I see all the dreams that she has," Simo says. "I want to make every piece unique to reflect the inner beauty of each child that wears my clothing."
Simo says she plans on expanding her clothing line to adults sometime this year.
