Organizers of the Bronx Night Market announced this week that after eight years, they’re “ending this chapter” at Fordham Plaza.
Marco Shalma, who founded the Bronx Night Market in 2017, said that holding the monthly event in Fordham Plaza allowed them to celebrate the “Boogie Down” and promote small businesses.
Shalma told News 12 that he can’t reveal too much right now, but they have an opportunity to have a semi-permanent location while also touring around the borough.
The announcement has been in the works for two years and is expected to make the night market “bigger and more Bronx.”
“This right now is the end of the story for Fordham Plaza and the Bronx Night Market, but it’s the beginning of a bigger story that, hopefully, can help grow the dynamic of the next generation of entrepreneurs that can continue what we started over here,” said Shalma.
Shalma said he hopes to reveal more information this fall and start at the new location next spring.
As for Fordham Plaza, there are still four more night markets scheduled on the last Saturday of the month through October.
