A Bronx nonprofit is helping artists to grow by giving them a space for expression - even through COVID-19.
Amire Mustapha created Art Defined 10 years ago and is still working now to provide free opportunities and support to artists in underserved communities.
"We do workshops also to kind of help develop the skills and just give them that space that support artists need to create more," says Mustapha.
They have transitioned their work to online since COVID-19, giving literary and performing artists a creative outlet even during a pandemic.
Many times, the arts are the first thing to go when it comes to budget cuts - that's part of the reason why keeping it free is so important to the group.
Adn even though it's been harder with COVID-19 by forcing the space online, they have been able to reach more people.
