Students in neighborhoods in the Bronx hit hardest by the pandemic also face inequity in the technology available to them to take part in remote learning.
Elected officials worked to provide the necessary equipment to all students with a giveaway Monday in Soundview.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. gave away 30 Chromebooks to students at Middle School 337.
Students who received the computer will be allowed to keep them, something Diaz says he has been fighting for since before the pandemic.
Diaz says there are still thousands of students in need of devices.
He is calling on mayoral candidates to find a solution to the gap in technology within the city.
