Bronx parents concerned after teenager was stabbed at Pelham Parkway high school
Families said students must walk through scanners every time they enter the building.

Bronx parents said they’re concerned and shocked after hearing that a high school student was stabbed while at school on Tuesday.
Officials said the incident happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Christopher Columbus High School campus in Pelham Parkway.
The victim’s family declined to go on camera but told News 12 that the 15-year-old attends Astor Collegiate Academy and was stabbed in the face with a scalpel.
The family said the ninth grader got into a fight with an 11th grader inside of the building, then received stitches at an area hospital.
Parents at dismissal on Wednesday said they received a notice that a soft lockdown was in effect, but there were no details about the stabbing.
“I was scared. I tell my boy, ‘You have to be careful. Just let me know what’s going on with something in school, in the street, anyplace,” said Manuel Granda, a concerned parent.
“I am concerned about my kids’ safety, so I am coming here [at the school] to pick them up so they don’t get involved in anything like that,” said Attique Malik, another parent.
Families said students must walk through scanners every time they enter the building.
The city’s Department of Education said it will be providing additional emotional support to anyone at the school who needs it.
