The New York City Pride March may be next weekend, but the Bronx celebrated early in its own special way with its annual Bronx Pride Festival on Saturday.
The festival is one of the biggest celebrations of LGBTQ+ culture in the borough.
Hosted by Destination Tomorrow, a Bronx LGBTQ+ center, the festival was the grand finale of Bronx Pride Week.
For the past few days, the borough has been celebrating pride in style with events like film screenings, the Bronx LGBT Expo, and a pre-Juneteenth intergenerational cookout.
Saturday's festival welcomed Bronx residents of all ages, and included games, food, prizes, live music, and dance performances.
The festival was hosted by LGBTQ+ icons like Kandy Muse from RuPaul's Drag Race and Karen Mercedes from the popular Netflix series “The Circle”.
Organizers hope that this event will strengthen the Bronx's pride community, while bringing in much needed resources, such as housing and healthcare.
