A program for high school students in the Bronx is helping them get a head start in the medical field.
The "Health, Education and Research Occupations High" program gives students resources to study in a hospital setting and interact with medical professionals before they graduate from high school.
"When you're 18, all of a sudden you have to decide who you want to be," says Dana Poltis of Montefiore Workforce Development. "They've already had four years of working on that, and I think they have a lot of resources and support that will help guide them through this process."
After students in the program earn their high school diploma, they can continue their education for free at Hostos Community College.
