A surprise engagement party was thrown for Santos Garcia and Mia Bell, two residents of the Triboro Center.
Garcia is a Brooklyn native who met Bell, a Bronx native, four years ago while playing bingo in the Triboro Center. Garcia and Bell were both waiting for a kidney transplant at the time, and Garcia proposed to her one month ago.
On Thursday, they celebrated their engagement with friends and family at the rehab center that brought them together through their individual struggles.
The next step? Their wedding, which they’re planning now. Their hope is to tie the knot right here in the Bronx next month.
