The latest poverty report released by the U.S. Census Bureau finds that the number of residents in Bronx and nationwide without health insurance is on the rise.

The report is the government's way of keeping track of the poverty rate. Questions asked include whether people work, if they have health insurance and how much they make. From those answers, the data is broken down by such categories as gender, race and age. The report found that the number of people living below the poverty level is in line with statistics from year's past.

The census numbers are not an exact count. They are only an estimate based on a survey. The official count on the number of poor is conducted every 10 years.
