Bronx residents brace for possible heat wave starting Sunday

Today marks the first day of summer and the start of consecutive warm days in NYC.
If you are not prepared for the warm temperatures, it can be very dangerous.
“Today we are facing a very dangerous situation a heat wave is bearing down on our state and I need you to take this seriously because it is the number one cause of weather-related deaths is extreme heat,” said Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids avoiding alcohol and candy as they can make you dehydrated.
Stay inside with the A/C on and if you don’t have an A/C, cooling centers will be open.

There are a few pet friendly cooling centers to make sure furry friends are safe in this heat too.
Make sure you know the signs of heat stroke as it can be very dangerous. These include trouble breathing, rapid heartbeat, nausea and dizziness.
The signs for pets can include, panting, drooling and weakness.
If you can't stay inside, make sure you are in the shade and drink water throughout the day.
