Bronx residents are calling for more vaccination sites as the borough continues to struggle with high coronavirus cases.
Since the vaccine rollout, lengthy lines have been a common complaint at locations across the city. Residents highlight that the Bronx is still struggling with high COVID-19 cases compared to other boroughs.
Both the Yankee Stadium and the new vaccination hub at Co-Op City are administering vaccines to Bronx residents only, but some say that’s not enough to close the disparity gap in communities of color.
Residents lined up outside the Morris Academy for Collaborative Studies in Morrisania Thursday to receive their vaccinations. The vaccination hub is open seven days a week to administer the Moderna vaccine to eligible residents. It is open to all New Yorkers who qualify for a shot. One person told News 12 they traveled all the way from Queens for her appointment at the Bronx site.
However, Bronx residents say more local sites need to be made available, especially for those in the Bronx community.
