Bronx tenants who claim their landlords aren?t fixing problems in their homes can now take their landlords to court.
Supervising Housing Court Judge Howard Sherman says residents should file the necessary paperwork at the housing court at 1118 Grand Concourse. Once the forms are filled out, a court date will be set in the following three to 10 days. Sherman says someone from the court will come to inspect the home before the court date. He adds if a violation is found, the court procedure will run smoothly.
Sherman recommends tenants take pictures of any damage or what they believe is a violation for the court. He says once a case is brought to court, an agreement between the landlord and the tenant is usually reached.
