Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson held a candlelight and prayer vigil Wednesday night in honor of Tyre Nichols' life.
Faith leaders joined with elected officials and Bronx residents to honor the life of the 29-year-old who was killed after a deadly encounter with officers in Memphis on Jan. 7.
Those gathered say they are pleading to Congress to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which aims to combat misconduct, excessive force and racial bias in policing.
