Beach season has kicked off in New York City.
The New York City Parks Department officially opened public areas for swimming, including Orchard Beach.
News 12’s Samantha Chaney was there to speak with beachgoers.
Trainees of the Level Up Boot Camp are also using the newly reopened beach as a site to meet for workouts.
"We thought, why not be a part of mother nature and enjoy the beach, enjoy the sand,” said a trainee.
The Parks Department says lifeguards will be on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Water is prohibited before and after that schedule.
