Bronx residents say they are feeling the effects of increased gas prices across the U.S.
Gas prices are expected to continue to rise, according to AAA.
The national average for one gallon of regular gas is $2.03, but in the Bronx it's about $2.19.
A week ago gas prices were $2.10 in the Bronx and a month ago they were $2.01.
But Bronx residents say they are thankful they are not paying $2.65; the price of a gallon of gas this time last year.
AAA says the spike in gas prices is due to the change of the season. They say gas prices reach their highest levels of the year in the spring right before the summer driving season.
As the weather gets warmer, the days grow longer and people drive more, AAA says.
The longer drives result in a higher demand for gasoline, and AAA says there is reduced production as some refineries conduct maintenance at their facilities.
