An investigation is underway following a two-car accident on the Bronx River Parkway.

The accident happened around Exit 8 on the parkway off the Allerton exit.

Police towed away the cars, with one of those vehicles having crashed onto the side of the road.

One of the vehicles was left completely wrecked.

Fire crews and police patrols were at the scene working to reach one of the vehicles and managed to get the accident cleared off the road fast.

The details of how the accident happened is not known, but the highway patrol will be investigating.

One person was taken to the hospital, but their condition is currently unknown.
