? Bronx seniors and Meals on Wheels advocates gathered at City Hall Wednesday to protest funding that they say has left them with little on the their plates.
Seniors say the city has allotted the program 85 cents per meal, which many say is unreasonable, considering the city has a reported $3 billion surplus. Advocates are calling for the amount to be raised to $1.20 per meal. Seniors are also demanding that the city restore funding for a van program.
The mayor?s office says it will continue to work with the City Council to fund the program.
