Crowds of customers flowed out of stores Wednesday on Arthur Avenue as they finished their last-minute Thanksgiving shopping.
"I came from New Jersey to get here at 7 a.m. this morning," one customer said as he waited in line outside of Madonia Bakery. He wasn't the only one waiting hours for the store's renowned olive bread and biscotti. Another family told News 12 they came all the way from Boston for the bakery's rainbow cookies.
"I love it. I live for it the whole month," said the bakery's owner. He says he doesn't get overwhelmed by the rush of people lining up outside the store the day before the holiday. Instead, he says, "It's great, everybody's getting crazy, everybody is coming out, enjoying their family."
While some people think shopping the day before the holiday is chaotic, others called it "tradition."
