Council Member Marjorie Velazquez on Sunday honored the life of the late Sylvia Lask by unveiling a street named for her in Westchester Square.
The corner of Waters Place and Bronx State Hospital Entrance was renamed Sylvia Lask Way.
Various council members, elected officials and Lask's friends and family gathered to honor her legacy at the unveiling of the new street sign.
Those who attended shared their stories of the time they spent with Lask. They talked about her kindness, loyalty and the impact she had in the borough.
Lask was a member of the Bronx Community Board 10. She was also a mental health advocate.
Her family members told the crowd there was nobody like Lask.
Officials told News 12 they picked the corner of Waters Place and Bronx State Hospital Entrance to rename it in honor of Lask because it's in front of the Bronx Behavioral Health Center.
