A Bronx street was co-named in honor of comic book legend Stan Lee this morning.
He died in November of 2019 but spent a lot of time in the Bronx.
Lee was raised in the Bronx and lived in an apartment at 1720 University Ave. He also attended Dewitt Clinton High School.
Lee eventually became the primary creative leader for Marvel Comics.
Councilmember Fernando Cabrera spearheaded the street co-naming so that University Avenue, between Brandt Place and West 176th Street, is called Stan Lee Way.
Fine arts students of Dewitt Clinton attended the co-naming ceremony. They say he is a large inspiration to students at the school.
"When you walk in Clinton, we have the portraits of him…it’s inspiration like you never know what could come out of the Bronx,” says Rafeal Class, a junior at the high school.
