Bronx students were given a history lesson when they attended a special performance of Duke Ellington's "Sophisticated Ladies" as a part of city public schools' program for Black History Month.
Students at P.S. 47 in the Bronx got to take part in Broadway's city-wide school tour, which is being presented at over 25 schools in the city.
Performers talked to students about the history of jazz and tap dance and how it started in Harlem.
Organizers say it's important for kids to learn about their own history and the history of New York City.
Inside Broadway will continue its tour throughout city schools with performances through February and March.
