Over 400 student chess players, from elementary to high school, spent their Saturday morning playing different opponents from across the borough during the Bronx Borough President’s Cup.
The tournament, now in its second year, was organized by the citywide Chess in Schools program.
Jenny Ingber, the program’s CEO, says this tournament is just one piece of the work they do year round for students who love the game.
It offers free opportunities for students to learn, practice, and compete in chess.
Ingber says no matter whether you win, lose or draw there is always something to take away from a game as a player and as an individual.
