A Bronx woman is looking to change the condition of methadone clinics in the Bronx.
Ami Massa says she was prompted to start a petition to revamp the clinics after she was approached by a man she says was on drugs at the Middletown train station. Massa began circulating the petition and now has almost 700 signatures.
Massa's efforts caught the eye of councilman Mark Gionai, who reached out to her for a meeting. The two discussed ways they could allocate resources to study just how much crime the centers draw to the area, and how many exist near schools and playgrounds.
Massa says tax dollars should do a better job for those in need of care and rehabilitation.
