Bronx woman: Unprovoked attack resulted in stitches to hand, head
A Bronx woman says an unprovoked attack on a subway train left her with several stitches to her hand and head.
Police say they are searching for the alleged attacker in the incident involving 23-year-old Rabia Bugum.
She says it happened on a northbound No. 6 train at the Brooke Avenue stop around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. She says she was on her way home from work when she says she locked eyes with a man she had never seen before.
Bugum says it was his gaze that made her uneasy. Later, when she got up to move to another subway car, she says he lunged at her with a sharp object.
She says only one rider came to her rescue and helped stop the bleeding.
The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 20 and 30. They say he was wearing dark clothing.
