Many Bronxdale residents say the city needs to hurry up and finish construction on a community center for their children.
According to residents, the city started construction on the center almost two years ago. Many say the wait for the center is unfair to neighborhood children. The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) says technical construction problems are keeping it from opening the facility.
The NYCHA hopes to have the center up and running in two weeks. NYCHA officials say the 23,000-square-foot center will be equipped with educational spaces, a full-size gym and an exercise room.
