It's an only-in-New-York story.
A Brooklyn bar owner went viral for her impressive improv when she spontaneously met comedian Conan O'Brien.
Debbie Shields, owner of Confessions Bar in Bed-Stuy, appeared in an episode of the popular social media show "SubwayTakes," where her quick wit went back and forth with the former late-night talk show host.
"I got a call about 8 a.m., like, 'Oh my God! You're all over the internet! You've got 5 million hits,'" said Shields. "I'm like, 'What?'"
In the viral video, the bar owner and comedian joke about knowing each other for years, being married and having two children.
"It was just like, I'm just kicking the gab with you," said Shields. "We're just talking mess and having fun."
Shields told News 12 that it all started as she searched for a seat on the F train.
The spur-of-the-moment interaction happened more than a month ago, and Shields said she didn't think much about it.
"You know how you do something and go, 'Oh, maybe we'll see it one day,'" said Shields. "That was it. I never thought anymore about it."
Shields said the video resulted in an influx of fans calling and visiting her business.
"It's now, 'Hey, I know you,'" said Shields. "They're blowing the horns, and people are riding by on bikes and coming to give me hugs."
In honor of the success, Shields named a new whiskey-based drink after O'Brien, calling it 'baby daddy O'Brien.'
"Life's stressful enough," said Shields. "We don't need that. We need to laugh."
