Community members celebrated the first day of Kwanzaa at the Brooklyn Children's Museum on Monday.
Festivities included watching traditional African dances and making a Unity Cup.
The holiday is seven days long and celebrates African heritage. Each day represents an important principle in the culture.
The museum will host different activities each day up until the seventh day.
