A Brooklyn College professor is using Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month to push for more inclusivity.
Dr. Yung-Yi Diana Pan is a sociology professor at Brooklyn College and CUNY Graduate Center.
She wants people to take time to push for curriculum that is more inclusive and to educate themselves. She says it starts with recognition.
"Recognition in terms of looking at our history and what is missing...having deep conversations about what is happening and why, you know, has there been this rise in anti-Asian American violence? And how that connects to our history as Americans in this country," Pan said.
Pan also says there are free bystander training sessions to help stop anti-Asian American harassment.
