When
the pandemic started, a Brooklyn community center started a food pantry to help
people facing food insecurity. Now
the center is in need of donations as they work to feed community members
during the Ramadan.
Salah Ajaj is one
of hundreds of people who line up weekly to get food from the APNA Brooklyn
Community Center's food pantry.
He says he has no
income and the pantry is especially important to him and the Muslim community
ahead of the holy month.
Ramadan is a
religious holiday where Muslims fast during the day and eat once the sun sets.
APNA is a
community center that offers services to help low-income community
members in need.
CEO Erum Hanif says the pantry is expecting a rush of people starting
next week as the need for food grows during the holy month.
