10h agoHundreds of Brooklyn residents headed to Canarsie Park for a back-to-school community day with a supply giveaway and carnival.
Hundreds of parents and children lined up to get backpacks full of supplies while volunteers worked to hand out as many as possible.
Excited families tried on their backpacks donated from the community then headed over to the carnival for even more fun and exciting games.
Sen. Roxanne Persaud says this event was the biggest one she's planned yet.
Parents say the event made their kids excited to go back to school and are happy they can enjoy one last summer fun event before heading back to the classroom.
