A Brooklyn-based fashion brand is lending a helping hand to struggling restaurants in the borough.
Morning News LTD. launched a campaign to sell T-shirts on the brand’s website to aid local eateries. “It’s really a shame to see what’s happening to all the local restaurants,” says Morning News Ltd. co-founder Meyer Tawil. “You know, they’re not getting any funding from the government and it’s tough on them.”
The pandemic has specifically hit the area known as pizza row in Dumbo hard because the restaurants rely heavily on tourism.
Fashion brand consultant for the company Tamiko White says a portion of the proceeds will go to ROAR (Relief Opportunities for All Restaurants), and they are also donating funds to employees at the restaurants.
The company aims to raise $15,000 during the month-long campaign, but would be happy to receive as much as three times more.
