Brooklyn hospital bringing massage services for its nurses

This week marks National Nurses Week, and one Brooklyn hospital is rewarding its hardworking nurses with massages.
NYU Langone in Brooklyn set up reiki and massage chairs for its staff this week, part of the Hospital Integrative Health Approach and one of several programs offered to the staff.
For nurses like Julie, one of many who spent years working while the hospital was overwhelmed by COVID-19 patients, this massage was a long time coming.
"It was good, it was very relaxing,” said Julie. “It’s something I want to take advantage of because we need to take care of ourselves.”
The hospital began these types of programs back in 2018, and offer things such as a book club and other wellness resources. Now, there is a nursing research campaign specifically devoted to studying the effectiveness of these resources on the lives of night shift nurses.
NYU Langone also hosted an award ceremony this week to honor its staff.
