Police say a Brooklyn man was charged with the murder of his 18-year-old girlfriend.
They say officers responded to a 911 call Friday around 10:15 a.m. to a home in Bensonhurst.
Upon their arrival, authorities encountered the victim's body.
According to reports, the victim, Damaris Maravilla, was lying face up on a bed with "trauma to her body."
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say her boyfriend, 26-year-old Dylan Diaz, was charged with her murder. The killing comes as the murder rate across the city is down.
According to a recent crime report that the NYPD published, while crime rates in the city are up about 34% since this time last year, the rate of murder has actually decreased around 38% since last April.
Authorities have yet to release information around Diaz's alleged motivation behind the murder of Maravilla.
The investigation is still ongoing and the medical examiner's office is still working to determine Maravilla's cause of death.
