Brooklyn Marine Terminal welcomes offshore wind hub

The southern Brooklyn Marine Terminal will soon be turned into an offshore wind hub, and Monday was the groundbreaking for the project.
The terminal is located just west of Industry City and will be transformed into an operations and maintenance hub for Equinor’s Empire Wind 1 Project – an offshore wind farm located around 15 miles south of Jones Beach on Long Island.
The 73-acre space will be a new source of long-term jobs for New York workers. A partnership between the mayor’s office, City University of New York, SUNY-Maritime and the New York City Harbor School will bolster the offshore wind curriculum to prepare students for those jobs as well.
“This is going to be the largest in our country right here in the borough of Brooklyn,” said Mayor Adams.
