Brooklyn residents are lining up around the block for a taste of a new sandwich at a Prospect-Lefferts Gardens shop.
At Mama Louisa’s Hero Shop, Edga Luinavictoria, owner of the eatery, says the artichoke parmesan sandwich brings a new twist to a classic favorite that sandwich enthusiasts can’t get enough of.
The sandwich starts with Italian bread, tomato sauce, artichoke hearts and layers of thinly sliced mozzarella. Then it goes in the oven.
The owner says they sold 400 of just this sandwich on Friday. Employees of the sandwich shop say that while it’s been on their menu for years, people just started showing up in droves for it this week.
