As the voter registration deadline for the upcoming primaries rapidly approaches, one community organization in Borough Park is giving out registration forms to those who stop for food.
Masbia Soup Kitchen, located in Borough Park, has hundreds of registration forms that they’re putting in the hands of every person who stops by.
The executive director of the soup kitchen, Alexander Rapaport, talks about the importance of the upcoming primary following the recent redrawing of congressional districts.
Beyond the final results, Rapaport is focusing on community representation in the polls.
“It’s important that low-income communities and immigrant communities are represented at the ballot box,” said Alexander Rapaport.
The food pantry plans to hand out registration forms through Friday, in dozens of languages.
