A new startup is giving New Yorkers an alternative to shopping on Amazon with a platform that allows customers to shop from multiple local businesses.
Shopin.NYC is a website similar to Amazon but partners with small businesses in Brooklyn in hopes of boosting local businesses and keeping money in the community.
The website connects over 100 Brooklyn businesses, giving people the option to not only shop locally but to also get free same day delivery.
Gift shop Woods Grove in Carrol Gardens is one of the businesses that sells with the platform. The owner says that sales dwindled during the height of the pandemic, but now that they've partnered with the platform, they say sales have increased.
The shopin.NYC founder says they're working to expand the platform to include all neighborhoods in the city. She also says for Valentine's Day, a portion of the proceeds will go to a local food bank.
