Brooklyn students & staff inspired to host plastic-free lunch day at school

A quick look around P.S. 15 in Red Hook Monday showed students sitting down for lunch today but no plastic being used.
P.S. 15 is just one of the many schools across the five boroughs that participated in the plastic-free lunch day. The Red Hook school had their first schoolwide plastic-free lunch day a few years ago, and over 700 New York City schools joined to participate today.
Students and staff were inspired after learning about the ways that climate change disproportionately effects communities of color and women.
The cherry on top for this green day in our schools? Students made sure to compost any waste left behind.
