Students of eight Brooklyn public schools spoke out Friday on major community issues by painting benches at Prospect Park.

The students painted the benches to express a wide array of community issues to set a standard for social change.

One group of students painted a bench with the theme of stopping wars. They said it was inspired by the Russia-Ukraine crisis because it is impacting the world right now.

Other issues on display were racism, mental health, bullying and others.

C.E.I. Benchmarks coordinated the Social Action Mural Bench Exhibition. C.E.I. Benchmarks is an an organization that inspires New York City public school students to speak out on major issues they care about.

School for Career Development P.S. 753 chose the topic of bullying.

Their bench shows an image of spray painting. The students explained the message behind their bench ias about spraying the hate away and instead applying love.

A student from P.S. 753 said she doesn't want anyone to go through bullying. She encourage those who are going through those tough times to stick for themselves and be confident.

The eight painted benches at Prospect Park will be up for display until Sept. 16.

The schools said this is an annual project that is showcased every year.
