A Bed-Stuy woman is staying out of her own kitchen because she's afraid of the rats that have taken over.

Christine Lowery says she's always dealt with a rat problem in her apartment, but it's gotten much worse in the last few months. On Monday morning, she says she found a dead rat outside her bedroom. Lowery says an exterminator has been to the apartment at least 20 times.

"They removed my refrigerator and there was a big giant rat, smushed. All the guts splattered out. That's when they said my apartment is infested with rats but, what are you doing to help me?" said Lowery.

A NYCHA spokesperson tells us, "NYCHA Pest Management staff have visited this apartment on several occasions in an attempt to mitigate the resident's rodent concerns. We will continue to work with the resident until this issue has been resolved."
