The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is adding its fourth fully accessible station to the transit system - the latest at Grand Street.
New Yorkers with their hands full, small children in strollers, or with disabilities will now be able to get around easier thanks to the installation of a brand-new elevator.
The MTA says this is all a part of an effort to make dozens of more stations accessible in a swift manner.
“Accessibility is a right, and for the first time, the MTA is talking about it as a right and our top priority,” said MTA CEO Janno Lieber. “We are determined to continue knocking out 88 stations, making our stations accessible at a totally unprecedented pace.”
