Clouds of smoke billowed above Van Cortlandt Park just before 8 a.m.
The FDNY says the fire sparked in four separate locations and took more than five hours to get all of it under control.
FDNY posted this on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing some of the drone footage used to locate the fires.
Officials say the likelihood of this happening again is high because the city is now under a drought watch.
"October saw the second longest dry streak in city records dating back to 1869," said Mayor Eric Adams in a presser earlier Monday.
"People have got to be very careful with their cigarettes or the dry leaves around their homes. It's going to be an issue until we get some rain." said FDNY Deputy Chief William McCormack.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The city warns people to practice fire safety and conserve water.
