Some City Council districts in the Bronx will hold participatory budget votes on how to spend taxpayers' dollars.
District 15 Councilman Richie Torres says $1 million has been put aside in his district's budget, and he wants residents to decide how to spend it. Council members Andrew Cohen and Melissa Mark-Viveritto's districts are also taking part in the vote.
Residents' votes will select community improvements to put the money toward, such as renovations to the Belmont Library bathrooms, air-conditioning at public schools, security cameras for public schools, NYPD security cameras and Bronx park improvements.
Councilman Torres' office says that this vote is for the community and residents should come out and participate.
The voting ends tomorrow at 9 p.m. and only residents ages 14 and up are allowed to vote.
