State police released updated information Tuesday on last week’s bus crash that left two Farmingdale educators dead and multiple people injured.
The driver of the bus has been identified as 59-year-old Lisa Schaffer, of Centereach. Authorities said the five students who had been in critical condition “are all recovering and downgraded to less critical care.”
News 12 tried to speak to someone at the Nesconset office of the bus company, Regency Transportation, but the man who opened the door did not want to speak.
A neighbor of the bus driver says she is “a wonderful woman.”
News 12 has learned that one adult remains hospitalized, but that person has not been identified.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash. Gov. Kathy Hochul said last week that it’s likely a faulty tire contributed to the crash.
