A Bushwick street has finally been repaved after 12 years, thanks to an initiative by the Department of Transportation.
The repaving of Eldert Street was part of a $1.6 billion investment by the DOT to resurface roads across the city.
Residents say the street was long overdue for repaving.
“It was overdue then, over time, overdue to have it repaved and fixed up,” says Rosa Frias. “We're glad that they are finally doing it."
The road was almost impossible to maneuver, according to one skateboarder.
"It was almost equivalent to it not being paved,” says Duane Marshall.
The DOT has completed half of its goal for the year across the boroughs. Work on the roads will continue until next Friday.
