Several Long Island businesses are hoping that the legalization of recreational cannabis will provide new opportunities to make a profit.
Some owners like Noelle Finn, of CDB Boss in Moriches, have been waiting for recreational pot for years.
"We are looking at it from a very positive aspect and looking for growth in sales and the clientele, as well," Finn says.
Chairman of the Long Island Regional Committee for the New York Cannabis Growers and Processors Association Dave Falkowski is a hemp farmer in Bridgehampton. He is also ready to expand his business.
"Ideally we would love to transition from our hemp swim lane into an adult use marijuana swim lane," Falkowski says.
He says that legal marijuana will be a billion-dollar industry on Long Island.
"We're on the cusp of major corporations having this in every major grocery store and pharmacy, let alone just at these CBS dispensaries," Falkowski says. "Things are rapidly changing."
New Yorkers probably won't be able to walk into a dispensary and buy marijuana until sometime in 2022.
