Water was seen flooding a busy intersection Wednesday after a fire hydrant burst on Jerome Avenue in Mount Eden.
The broken hydrant created what looked like a rushing river down Jerome Avenue before 9 a.m. The inconvenient leak forced customers visiting the surrounding businesses to watch their step.
Neighbors say they experienced brown water leaking in their apartments early this morning.
One neighbor who lives in the area say he’s never seen something like this before and was shocked when he woke up to water overflowing in his bathtub.
Con Edison and emergency crews were working to get the water under control. Commuters were advised avoid the area by Marcy Place and Jerome Avenue.
