Drivers in the Bronx say they are tired of the traffic related to the construction on the Throgs Neck and Whitestone bridges.
The construction is expected to be wrapped up in August, but state leaders aren't convinced. They are calling on the MTA to halt construction tied to state's open tolling initiative or to come up with another plan that would not involve multiple bridge construction projects going on at the same time.
"We must have MTA stop construction immediately," said Democratic state assemblyman, Mark Gjonaj.
Local leaders say they also have concerns for businesses in the neighborhood. They say that since everyone is stuck in traffic, they are not coming to community businesses.
The MTA told News 12 that the location will benefit from the completed cashless tolling project.
